The Nebraska-Iowa
Past Lt. Governor’s Association has been made aware that Kiwanians
who volunteer to help with the new Key Leader training program must
pay $45 as a volunteer. This payment by the volunteer is to help pay
for some of their meal costs, etc We do not believe that volunteers
who help the staff educate those students enrolled in the program
should have to absorb this cost in addition to the contribution of
their time.
2005 began Kiwanis
International's Key-Leader program for youth. Plans are well
underway for the upcoming camp within the Nebraska-Iowa District for
the program. The Key-Leader program will be held in Iowa the weekend
of April 28-30
at
Camp Hantesa near Boone, Iowa. A second Key-Leader camp will
be held in Nebraska at the
Eastern Nebraska 4H Youth Center, Gretna, Nebraska, the weekend of
November 2-4.
There is not a
2008 Iowa Camp scheduled as of yet, pending the success (having 60
participants) of the Nebraska Camp this fall.
Kiwanis Clubs that sponsor a student
will pay
$160 or $135 for a
student who currently is a member of a Key Club. That
covers their lodging, meals and the program.
The cost now for
committee member volunteers at the camp is now free. No more $45
cost. We need a ratio of 1 adult for each 10 student participants.
If we are to have 60 students this fall at Gretna, we need a minimum
of 6 adult volunteers as the male/female ratio dictates. |
